Connect Dostup.io on Android

Step-by-step instructions for setting up Dostup.io on Android for access to Russian online resources. You can use the system VPN client, but its interface and setup steps vary by device manufacturer. This guide therefore shows the setup through strongSwan VPN Client.

What you need

Open Connection settings in your dashboard. You will need the values of the Server Address, Login and Password fields. Google Play is required to install the client application.

Install strongSwan

  1. Install strongSwan VPN Client from Google Play.
  2. Open the app and tap ADD VPN PROFILE.

Add the profile

Copy the server address, login and password from Connection settings. To reveal the password, click the eye icon beside the Password field. Preserve capitalization and do not add spaces at the beginning or end of a value.

Leave the other application settings unchanged and tap Save.

Connect

  1. Tap the saved Dostup.io profile.
  2. The first time, approve Android's system request to create a VPN connection.
  3. Wait for the profile status to change to Connected.

If it does not connect

Authentication failed
Copy the username and password from Connection settings in your dashboard again. Check capitalization and remove extra spaces.
The profile is saved but does not start
Check the server address and allow strongSwan to create the Android system VPN connection.
Android stops the application
Allow strongSwan to run in the background in the device's battery settings.
